The idea of this month’s bullet journal spread was created out of pure necessity and lack of time. I would consider all my bujo spreads to be pretty minimalist anyway, always drawing up something that can be easily recreated. I do like to draw florals so that often gets incorporated into my monthly layouts. But in November, I’ve been participating in National Novel Writing Month. I’ve discovered that I am rather a slow writer when it hitting the daily word count… Because I spent all my free time writing, I didn’t have a huge need for keeping track of a task list this month. Hence, ultra simplified spreads to keep track of my work schedule and events.
Cover Page
As I’ve done the past five months, the dutch door has been a feature of my cover pages. This month’s is maybe a little underwhelming but it’s something that looks quite striking on its own.
And to be honest, it was very easy to cut away.
Under the dutch door is where I keep my monthly goals, tasks, important dates, and events.
Monthly Calendar
Of all the pages this month, this one is the easiest to recreate and barely took any time at all.
Weekly Spread
Like I did at the beginning of this year, I used a bi-weekly spread once again. When your main goal is to hit 1,700 words a day, there really is less to keep track of. Yet, I still have room to write a to-do and task-list for things like laundry or sending that email.
A closer look at the layout for a week.
Word Count Tracker
In case you missed it, I’m a writer. And us writers keep track of “how much” we write, not by pages, but by word count. The goal for National Novel Writing Month is to write 50,000 words so that’s what I’m keeping track of on the left. My historical romance novel is going to be more than 50,000 words (hopefully around 90,000 words, à la Jane Austen) so on the right is where I’m going to color in blocks as I draft my manuscript.
These two pages are definitely my favorite this month. Besides being so useful as a visual way to see my novel-writing progress, it’s so pretty! This type of minimalist design with the touch of florals is my M.O.
I was very tempted to skip using a bullet at all this month because of the time it would take to create pages (and take pictures and create a blog post… lol). But in the end, it was worth it, as it always is. There is something about writing things down on paper that really helps me keep sane.
Happy Day-
