Hello March! My theme for this month is extending beyond the pages. I’m dubbing it minimalist March and giving myself a challenge: 31 minimalist/mindful tasks to complete this month. This month’s spread is quite the opposite of last month’s cozy roses theme. It’s starker and has just one pop of color (maroon!) with dueling grays. Adding stripes give the minimalist theme some easy flair.
Cover Page and Minimalist Challenge
The thing is… I’m terrible at drawing straight lines so when I decided I wanted to incorporate stripes for the first time I knew they wouldn’t be perfect. And I love it with all its imperfections.
If you’ve been here before, you know I can’t resist some cute floral designs. Writing a large letter ‘M’ for March is easy to do with a brush pen. I’m not great with fancy calligraphy but I can manage a couple simple letters 😉
Now, the minimalist March challenge. I listed 31 things, one for each day, although I can do them in any order I choose. Once I accomplished the task or mindful practice, I can put a check next to that item. I’m doing this as my focus for the month to create physical and mental space.
Here are the brush pens I used for this month’s theme.
Monthly Calendar
I’ve found that I barely use the space on the side of my calendar to keep track of tasks so I made it much smaller this month and added a bit more visual interest in the bottom corner with more stripes and flowers.
Weekly Layout
I’ve gone back to my usual weekly layout style, sort of. The blocking is definitely the same but the space of the sides is used differently. I honestly just think this weekly design is really useful for me! It’s been hard to stray from it even though I want to do a different weekly layout every month.
Don’t mind my inability to spell ‘Tuesday’ and my wonky stripes haha. I especially love the large numbers in maroon that are easy to see.
I’m a little bit back to my roots with this month’s minimalist theme. I’m really happy with the way it turned out despite the wonky stripes. Giving myself a challenge is really something I’m looking forward to! I’ve been trying more and more to incorporate minimalism and slow living into my life and I think having 31 days, and 31 different tasks, to explore it in a stressfree way will be fun (and beneficial).
Happy Day-
