Today’s post is a quick bullet journal plan with me where I’m showing three spreads that I’ve created to help me plan and track for my (this!) blog. It’s been effective at helping me plan and I love the visualization of the growth tracker.
Growth Tracker and Blogging Ideas Brain Dump
I started to track the growth for my blog last July when I redid the look (and name) of my blog. I copied the same growth tracker I used before but left some room at the bottom to add more things to track. Since taking these pictures, I’ve created a Bloglovin’ account so I can track my followers there.
The right side of the spread is more of a brain dump page where I can list tasks and other notes. I have some big project ideas that I’ve jotted down in the area as well.
Blogging Kanban
I got the idea of a blogging kanban from watching The Plant Based Bride’s Youtube video creating a kanban to track her professional and personal projects. A kanban is a Japanese scheduling system originally used for manufacturing. My spread is not a traditional kanban but is more of a bolt brain dump for project management. And in my case, the project I’m managing is my blog.
The idea for me is to write the blog post in the middle and keep track of each step of the blogging process. Which for me are five steps: media (pictures), write (writing content), edit (edit content), finish (aka published), and promote (share on social platforms). As I started each step, I’ll put a dot. When that step is complete, I’ll put an ‘X’. I also will track my start date, complete date, and publish date.
When I switched my site over, I ended up losing all of my pictures! Yes, it was a major headache (and a long story). But basically, when I transferred to this new site, all of my old pictures, instead of downloading and re-uploading for my old blog, were just linked to the other site. And when I officially shut down my other site (aka the renewal was expiring), all the pictures on this site just showed up as a blank. Super frustrating! So I’m using this kanban/bolt dump to track my process for reuploading and editing all my old blog posts.
I have another page to keep track of posts as well. It’s very basic. Once it’s filled in, it’ll be cool to see how much I’ve accomplished!
Overall, these pages aren’t as ‘pretty’ as my other spreads but they are definitely useful! I thought I’d share it because they’ve been helpful for me. I think the moral of the story is to use a journal to keep track of blogging. What a revolutionary idea! Which is hilarious since a huge part of this blog is about how journaling can keep you organized and mindful. But hey, I love that my bujo has 192 pages! So I know that I don’t have to worry about taking up too much room.
