Bullet Journal August 2019: Minimalist Mountains and Florals

This month’s bullet journal was inspired by my trip to visit family in Montana. I’ve been to Montana before and the state has immense mountains, lots of pine trees, and beautiful wildflowers. My style for this second bujo for the second half of 2019 is minimalist and simple floral designs. Believe it or not, this style takes less time to create! If you like this style, definitely check-out last month’s bullet journal spread here.

Cover Page

Hello, dutch door! I’m officially convinced to continue using cut-away pages for my cover pages. It’s fun and works effectively as a bookmark for the month.

The quote I added on the left side of my cover page is “the best view comes after the hardest climb” which feels so appropriate this month (and this year). After months of struggle, I’m finally starting to see the light. I’ve been working on trying to get my fantasy novel published which has been seriously hard. But two of my short stories are going to be published in a collection of horror stories which is very exciting! I’m finally getting published! Maybe not in a way I expected but it’s progress all the same.

I always (aka the last two months) add a small monthly calendar in the dutch door opening. It helps define the cover page without overwhelming it. It leaves the picture or design front and center while still being useful.

Under the dutch door is where I keep track of my goals for the month. I only focus on three! One is a creative goal, two is a marketing goal, and three is a personal goal. Then I list the tasks I have to do in order to achieve that goal.

Monthly Calendar

Simple but effective, here’s my monthly calendar for my bujo. The calendar is the place where I keep track of my schedule: work, vacation, payday (yeah!), and vacation.

Gratitude Journal and Month in Review

These two pages are some of my most important pages. Not everyone might think they are practical, but they certainly are meaningful. I have to pause every day to write something in my gratitude section and then reflect at the end of the month about what was important. It’s also a great way to write little remembrances that will be fun to look back on in the years to come.

Weekly Spread

This is the exact same weekly layout as last month. But the doodle on the side has changed to keep with my theme for the month. I just adore the little scene I came up with. It’s very “Montana” with the mountains, pine trees, field, and wildflowers.

Here’s a closer look! Plus, see how I use my bullet journal day-to-day. I use a cube key to keep track of my daily to-do list. If I’m traveling or something, then I use the space to journal what I did that day. It’s the spread for me! Don’t expect me to change it in the coming months haha.

You can see I was not very good at keeping my habits on the weekend… Whoops! But I’m human and I’m keeping track of those things because I need to create those good habits.
